RESIDENCY AT TEATER MØN

Teater Møn offers artistic residencies with a focus on immersion, time, and presence.

Residencies are working stays where artists can develop and explore ideas at their own pace – without requirements for finished productions.

The residency programme is aimed at artists and companies seeking space, calm, and qualified dialogue within a vibrant artistic environment.

We open our place to all kinds of artists: performing artists, musicians, visual artists, writers…

both individuals and groups.

PERIODS

The residency programme is organised in two annual periods:

Spring 2026: 6 weeks – 12 March to 26 April

Autumn 2026: 6 weeks – 18 October to 29 November

These periods are chosen to allow for depth, calm, and a sustainable working rhythm – outside high season and touring pressure.

Important for international artists (spring)

International artists wishing to apply for EU mobility funding (Culture Moves Europe) for the spring period should note that the application deadline is 31 January 2026.

We therefore recommend getting in touch well in advance, so the residency period can be clarified and we can issue the necessary Letter of Invitation in time.

Within each period, we offer both shorter and longer stays, depending on the needs of the artist and the project.

Working stays, dialogue, and shared processes

A residency at Teater Møn combines independent work with the possibility of active dialogue and exchange.

Dialogue may include:

  • artistic conversations and feedback

  • reflection on process, methods, and direction

  • experience-based sparring on choices and development

Space for several projects at once

Teater Møn has multiple rooms and rehearsal spaces, allowing us to host several artistic projects simultaneously.

This creates opportunities for both focused individual work and informal exchange between artists – if desired – while also allowing for fully self-organised working processes.

There are both large and smaller studios, intimate workspaces, and outdoor areas, with nature and landscape as active collaborators.

Accommodation and access to rehearsal space

We offer:

Single room: €35 / 250 DKK per artist per day

(All rooms have double beds, so it is of course possible to share.)

(Includes access to working space.)

If a project wishes exclusive access to a studio, this can be reserved for an additional fee of:

250 DKK per day

There is access to a shared kitchen, and as part of the residency rhythm we expect to organise communal meals – both as a practical solution and as an informal meeting space.

Mentoring and sparring (optional)

If desired, mentoring and sparring can be arranged as part of the residency stay.

Our team consists of artists, producers, and entrepreneurs, and the sparring can take many forms – from artistic feedback to conversations about production, organisation, and sustainable working lives.

Mentoring is arranged individually and is an optional add-on.

A place for work – not performance

Residencies at Teater Møn are first and foremost working stays.

There is no requirement for showings, premieres, or audiences – but there is room for sharing, conversations, and informal meetings if it makes sense for the project.

Curated programme in the autumn (under development)

In connection with the autumn period, we are also working towards establishing a more concentrated, curated one-week programme, with invitations, a shared programme, and opportunities for meetings between artists, professionals, and partners.

This programme is under development and will be announced separately.

Conversations about future formats

For projects where it is relevant, we can also discuss possibilities for further collaboration – for example in relation to Teater Møn’s different formats such as Teater Tapas, To The Møøn Festival, or other contexts.

There is no automatic pathway here, but we see residencies as places where relationships and future collaborations can grow over time.

How to get here:

Please send an email to mail@teatermon.dk including:

  • a short description of the project’s intention

  • preferred residency period (spring or autumn – preferably with specific dates)

  • number of participating artists

  • brief information on whether you are applying for Culture Moves Europe or other external funding

It is not necessary to submit finished project material or detailed production plans – we prioritise clarity of intention and period over completed concepts.

We begin with these two periods and see them as a realistic and sustainable starting point, allowing us to build experience, relationships, and a shared language for what residencies at Teater Møn can be. However, we consider the two annual periods following the rhythms of spring and autumn as a guiding principle going forward.

We look forward to opening the doors.
